bad year for the walls Extremadura
The year 2010 is proving, indeed, a bad year for the walls of Extremadura. The heavy rains that fell this past winter, and still fall for this newborn spring, have taken their toll, causing two separate landslides in the canvases of Trujillo (lost nearly seven meters from a beautiful and admirable set of reused Roman masonry and ashlar born in the SX and ends in the sixteenth century) and Jerez de los Caballeros (the famous wall Templar lost between thirty and forty meters and threatened more), and putting on alert Cáceres (In fact last year there were landslides in the parapet Father Rosalio and economic crisis which seems to be affecting the repair, rehabilitation of affected areas) and Badajoz (castigadísima years, practically abandoned to their fate Almohad fortress) between other locations in Extremadura.
Could have avoided the collapse of a major part of our historical and artistic heritage?. Do you see it coming?. It's too late to raise Cain, only hope from Art Extremadura, that rehabilitation follow the same logic Historic-Artistic and soon we can all enjoy, again, of our beautiful walls of Extremadura.
PD: Photos (Cáceres and Jerez de los Caballeros) do not belong to Art Extremadura. Are taken from the Web to illustrate the entry, if you own and do not want to be shown do not hesitate to communicate. Thanks.
